About PG-FIS

The Physics Program of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), PG-FIS has currently 23 permanent professors and 2 collaborating professors distributed in 4 areas of concentration, with two associated research laboratories and a third one that is being assembled. It is worth mentioning that one of the research laboratories, the Plasmas and Processes Laboratory (LPP), is internally composed of five laboratories and is multi-user. We present below information about the program, its mission and the Regulatory Norms of the ITA Graduate Programs to which the PG/FIS is subject.

    ITA Duplication Project

The ITA is in a very special period, doubling the number of undergraduate students and strengthening its graduate programs, with the creation of new laboratories, improving the selection of entrants, and increasing its faculty, with the hiring of 60 professors in 2018, which is a 40% increase. A new building of over 16,000 m2 was also constructed, to which the Elementary Education division, including the Physics department and the PG-FIS, moved. This building includes space for classrooms, teachers' rooms, teaching and research laboratories, and two auditoriums. There are also ongoing works related to the duplication of the ITA funded by the MEC.

The Graduate Program in Physics at the ITA is composed mainly of faculty members from the departments of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the Fundamental Sciences Division of the ITA. Its operation is governed by ICA-356 of 2021: "Regulatory Norms for the Postgraduate Programs of the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica", recently revised according to DCTA Ordinance No. 2/DCA, of January 22, 2021, published in BCA No. 017, of January 26, 2021.
